Hello friends! Yesterday, I presented the opportunity for my wonderful readers to Ask GMD basically anything they wanted to, personal finance related or not. As promised, I am answering each and every question today!
debtfreeoneday had 3 questions for me!
Do you look like your avatar? As some people have avatars that look like themselves and some people have ones that look like the complete opposite! My avatar is based on a picture I sent the cartoonist and I think it does look like me except my hair is darker now and my skin is tanned from the summer sun. I asked Anna from Are Ya Gonna Eat That?this same question since me and her have met recently and she said I do look like my avatar except I have prettier eyes in real life. I swear I didn’t pay her to say that!
What’s your vision for the future when your debts are paid off? What will your goals be then? My immediate financial goal after paying off all my debt is to max out my retirement savings account. I also want to invest like a BOSS!
As you know I’m a sort of newish blogger and am getting my head around SEO. I wondered, because your blog is just brilliant, what’s your biggest SEO tip? My biggest SEO tip is to date someone who knows everything there is to know about SEO Joking aside, I know NOTHING about SEO so I’m lucky J, my fiancé (aka Jeremy from Modest Money) handles all the behind the scenes stuff with my blog. If you have any questions, just shoot him an email and tell him GMD sent you.
anna from Are Ya Gonna Eat That? wants to know: When are you and J visiting your SD bestie?! I’ve always wanted to visit sunny California! You know we will see each other again sooner than later friend!
Debt Blag asks: What’s your favorite color? Pink! I have a pink camera, pink I-phone case, pink umbrella, pink bathrobe, pink slippers, pink… you get the idea!
Do you think I could pull off flip-flops as part of a casual look? Or should I just wear boat shoes? Flip flops in NYC? Maybe on the beach. Stick with the boat shoes for the casual look.
Eva from Girl Counting Pennies asks: When are you coming to visit me in London? I am obsessed with Europe and London is one of my must see cities. Maybe when Prince Harry finally gets married.
Rachel from Mobilligy also wants to know if you look like your avatar? Yes Rachel, I think I do.
debtyswan asks: Are you interested in living outside of Canada in the future? It’s my dream to travel the world but I wouldn’t want to live anywhere but here in Canada.
KK from Student Debt Survivor wants to know: Will the first child be baby GMD or baby MM? It’s my blog so it’s going to be baby GMD, regardless of boy or girl baby
E.M. from Journey to Saving asks: What part of wedding planning gets you the most excited about it? The DRESS!
Retired by 40! asks: Without being too specific, how are you going to budget for your wedding and honeymoon? I know you don’t want to sacrifice in your journey to become debt free, but how will you determine a budget an stick to it? J and I aren’t having the wedding until sometime in 2015 so we have lots of time to save up for it. We’re not really going to set a strict budget for it, but we do know that we don’t want to accumulate any debt from it nor do we want to spend an extravagant amount just for a wedding. That’s for the Europe honeymoon.
Nell from The Million Dollar Diva asks: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be? Don’t date a loser thinking he will change. He won’t.
Kyle from Debt Free Diaries asks: Once you’re debt free, what are your plans? Both with your life and with this blog. I won’t be debt-free for another 4-5 years so Girl Meets Debt will be around for a while longer haha. Maybe by then I will have some staff writers, other “Girls” telling their journey to a debt-free life!
Alicia from financial diffraction asks: Have you gotten used to saying/hearing the word “fiancé/fiancée” to describe your new relationship status? Yes, surprisingly I have. It’s like I was born to wear a shiny rock on my left ring finger.
Rob from Bid Ask Dividends asks: Will any of the following characters die in Breaking Bad?
Walt - He won’t die unless he takes his own life but I don’t think he will.
Hank - Hank won’t die but he also won’t take down Heisenberg/Walt like he wants to.
Skyler - She won’t die but I don’t see her having a happy ending…
Jesse - I really really really don’t want Jesse to die. He deserves a nice clean ending all wrapped up in a nice bow.
L wants to know: What did you find changed the most when you and J first moved into together? I’ve never lived with a bf before moving in with J. The only thing that really changed was now there was always someone to eat and watch TV with!
Liquid asks a hypothetical question. If there were 1,000 identical boxes, each one had $100,000 in it except for one which contains a poison that would kill you instantly, how many boxes (if any) will you plan to open? Yikes, tricky!!! I’m a chicken and want to live to see the ripe old age of 31 so I wouldn’t open any!
Cat from Budget Blonde asks: What would be your dream job? If it’s your current job, you don’t have to say it!! I’m 30 years old and I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up…ask me again in 5 years.
Grayson from Debt Roundup has a simple question: Do you think all guys smell? Well, do you??? Yes Grayson I do!
Lisa E. from Lisa vs. the Loans asks: Do you ever get writer’s block? How do you deal with it? I always get writer’s block and I have yet to find a way to effectively deal with it!!! Any tips for me? Normally when I have writer’s block I just don’t post anything lol.
The Norwegian Girl asks: What kind of dress are you thinking about? Traditional? Mermaid? Ballgown? Colour? I have no clue! Something that will make me look slim and look like a million bucks but only cost a few hundred.
This was SO MUCH FUN for me to do. I used WAY TOO MANY smiley faces in one post haha. Thank you again to everyone who asked a question! I may have to do something like this again in the near future!
