Hello Friends! Today I have a short and sweet post for you and later I want you all to join in on the fun in the comments below.
Cait from Blonde on a Budget asked me on my September Debt Repayment Update “Do you have a debt-free goal date?” Great Question Cait and thank you for giving me inspiration for today’s blog topic!
I always knew that I wanted to have my debt all paid off in 5 years, although secretly and ambitiously aiming for 4 but I didn’t really have an exact date to aim for. The original $57,000 debt just seemed too big to even imagine an exact debt payoff date because living a debt-free life seemed almost as unreal to me as Kayne West and Kim Kardashian living happily ever after.
Now that my $12,000 credit card is all paid off and only my massive $44,000 student loan is left, I can see a tiny ray of light at the end of the dark tunnel. I also feel a weight that was weighing ooooohhhhh about $12,000 pounds lifted off my shoulders so maybe, hopefully, I can run through this dark tunnel and reach the debt freedom ray of light faster.
But……..there’s always a but with GMD right?
I’m also realistic in knowing that I am planning a wedding and honeymoon for 2015 and I’m sure other grown up milestones will soon follow after that might delay my debt repayment process a bit.
I’ve always said from the beginning that as consumed as I am with aggressively paying off my debt (I have no EF, ALL my money goes towards debt) I will not delay my life!
So my “dream” debt payoff date is December 8th, 2016 (4 years exactly when I first started this blog) Wouldn’t that be a fairy tale ending? I could be a Debt Princess in my own story!
However my “realistic” debt payoff will be August 2nd, 2017. That would be my 34th birthday and possibly the best birthday present I could give myself!
Alright friends, in the comments below, tell me how much debt you have and your “dream” and “realistic” debt payoff dates!
