Diamond Earrings from J – Our First Valentine’s Day Together 02/14/13

Here are some random things I enjoyed this week…

1) Mini-Golf – I haven’t played in years and I lost really badly but it was so much fun!

2) The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey – I’m a huge Lord of the Rings Film Trilogy nerd but I really didn’t like the hobbit Frodo so when I first heard of this prequel it didn’t spark my interest at all. I was convinced to go see the movie in 3D last weekend and I am so happy I did! If you enjoyed the Lord of the Rings films, you will enjoy this prequel with it’s familiar faces too.

3) Seeing a Canucks Game live – I LOVE going to see Canucks games live but unfortunately tickets are so expensive that I don’t go as often as I would like. Canucks tickets are notorious for being the most expensive in all the NHL. I was lucky this week that my employer gave me two free tickets to the game against Calgary Flames where we won 5-1!

4) Handmade Valentine’s Day Card - J is much more artistic than I am! He upstaged me by making me the cutest card while I just bought his from the store lol.

5) Red Velvet Cupcakes - Always good year-round, but extra goodness around Valentine’s Day

That sounds like such a great week! Everyone I know (friends, people in same industry) said January was a rough month and February had a rough start. After hanging out with a few of them last night, everything seems to be smoothing out for 2013!! YAY! Red velvet is good, but I hate grocery store bought kinds, gotta go with a bakery! Crazy that Canucks tix are a lot, I read a few articles that Winnipeg, Montreal, Toronto and Edmonton are more expensive. It’s getting crazy just do to a game and dinner out these days!

Have you heard of the bakery simply called CUPCAKES? They make the best ones! And as for Cancuks tickets, mine was retail at 335.50 EACH!!! Which is ridiculous for a regular season game. Thank goodness I got them for free hehe

Thanks for the mention, Girl! Aren’t NHL games fun? We have friends who have season tickets to the Wild, and they’re generous enough to give us tickets when they can’t go – a super fun thing that we wouldn’t spend the money on right now. And the Hobbit sounds great – we’ll have to put it on our list of must-sees. Have a great weekend!

As for the hobbit, it’s a tad long but the nerd in me really enjoyed it :)

We saw the Hobbit on opening weekend as my wife is a big Tolkien geek. We saw it in 3D, which was well worth it. My only issue was we both thought he could’ve cut an hour out of the movie and it would’ve been fine. The LOTR movies called for the 3 hour length, but not the Hobbit in my opinion. Have a great weekend!

I was kinda disappointed by the Hobbit. We saw it in IMAX 3D and it was pretty cool, but I had just gotten finished reading the book and I was blown away by home different it was. Our military IDs got us $5 tickets instead of $15!

Ohhhh now I’m interested in reading the book!

$5 tickets to watch it in IMAX 3D sounds sweet!

Pretty earrings and yum on the red velvet cupcakes – sounds like an excellent V-Day! The Hobbit was interesting, but don’t understand the movie industry’s decisions for 3 hour movies. Don’t they know patrons have limited bladders? :)
